Bike Tour Hamburg: Pinneberg - Wedel - Elbidylle - Uetersen - Pinneberg

Tour details
  • Difficulty: medium, a good physical condition is recommended
  • Distance: 55.6 km
  • Duration: ca. 3.5 to 4.5 hours, depends on speed and the number of breaks
  • Bike type: Standard trekking bikes are ideal, mountain bikes might be slower on the tarmac, speed/ racing bikes will have trouble on the dirt segments
  • For the majority of the tour, the road is indeed tarmac, but there are a few dirt/ gravel segments that lead through a forest and some fields
  • The starting point/ finish can be reached by public transit. The tour starts at the Pinneberg train station (connections: S3, RB61, RB71, Busses 185, 195, 285, 594, 6663) and ends there as well

This is what part of the segment between Pinneberg and Wedel looks like

After arriving in Wedel, you will reach the "Willkommenhöft Wedel", where you can take amazing pictures (like this one lol) of the Elbe and the Elbstrand, although the sun limits the possibilities in the afternoon. There are also some restaurants around, where you can have a beer or eat something

After you are done with admiring the scenery at the Willkommenhoft, you reach the beginning of the Elbidylle, where you can take even more photos, especially on a beautiful day like this one

The Elbidylle segment is absolutely gorgeous. As you cruise down the trail you will also see sheep and cows. Along the trail are special gates too keep these animals from escaping the area; these gates can be annoying, especially for bike riders

After completing the Elbidylle segment, you will ride a few kilometres along country roads to the next point of interest, the small airfield in Uetersen, where they have this jet on display. Depending on the weather, you will see many many different flying machines during takeof and landing.

Right after you leave the airfield, the road takes you on a narrow trail towards Pinneberg. Hidden by the vegetation is a small lake.
After leaving the trail, you'll go onto the final segment of your tour, that takes you via some country roads back home, to the finish, in Pinneberg.
